Grannie Annie BooksThe mission of The Grannie Annie Family Story Celebration is to celebrate family stories, foster an interest in history, and nurture the writing skills of young people. What better way to celebrate family stories than to share them in a book? From the stories submitted to The Grannie Annie each year, about two dozen are selected for publication in a paperback anthology and on the Grannie Annie website. The stories are written by students in U.S. grades 4 through 8, and by homeschooled or international students 9 through 14 years of age, based on interviews with their family storykeepers. The Grannie Annie stories are entertaining, inspiring, and thought-provoking. They bring history to life, giving vivid personal accounts of life in the "good old days" and often providing an insider's perspective on historic events. They connect readers with people from different places and different times. Stories in the Grannie Annie anthologies are indexed so that readers can easily find those on particular topics. This makes it easy to enrich curriculum with personal family stories. You can read the stories online -- and "Sneak a Peek" at the layout of the books. However, the best way to enjoy the Grannie Annie books is to own them -- so that you can read the stories again and again. You'll want to share the stories with your family, your friends, your school, your neighborhood retirement home, and others. Then watch the stories multiply! In addition, the stories are invaluable models for students who might want to submit their own family stories to The Grannie Annie in the future.
