Indirect object or object of a preposition? ![]() An indirect object is very much like a prepositional phrase with the preposition omitted. Notice that the questions used to locate indirect objects include prepositions: To whom? For whom? That is why our model for the S-V-IO-DO sentence shows the indirect object suspended from the verb by an "invisible preposition." The preposition is only implied, making an indirect object. |
